This historic building was restored to the original on the exterior while at the same time creating an accessible building and renovating the entire interior. Some of the challenges included lowering an existing floor by 4-5 feet to make the building accessible while maintaining the structural integrity of the building. This required major shoring of the structure and installing new steel posts and beams at various locations. A good part of the original metal ceiling tiles was retained with the addition of some new pieces created to match the existing ones. The final result of this building is well worth seeing and it will be a showcase for the MICEC for years to come!
